Thanks, North Central BC educators, for a wonderful 2021 Spring Fling Conference. See you next year on April 29th, 2022. We'll be offering a hybrid conference with both in-person and online programming.
This year's conference on April 23rd, 2021 will be a virtual event hosted on Zoom, with a plenary/keynote session to start the day, and three 1-hour workshop sessions to follow with breaks. Once you've registered, you'll have access to a custom attendee site with instructions for the conference day and options for making changes. While we don't have a single conference theme, you will notice that a number of our workshops relate to compassion and resilience -- so timely as reflect on a year living in global pandemic that has affected our students and ourselves in profound ways.

WHY: There's something for everyone and everyone is welcome. Beyond providing one-off professional development workshops, we have built a program that emphasizes connections between educators, and connections to the ongoing inquiry that occurs in classrooms and schools. Benchmarks, not destinations.
WHO: The Spring Fling is for educators in SD57 (Prince George), SD28 (Quesnel), SD91 (Nechako Lakes), SD27 (Cariboo-Chilcotin) plus other educational professionals, advocates, specialists, assistants, and community members from Prince George and beyond. This conference is the result of the cooperative efforts from the PD Chairs and their committees from the following BCTF "North Central Zone" locals: Prince George (57), Quesnel (28), Nechako (56), and Burns Lake (55), with advice from Cariboo-Chilcotin (27). Thanks also to contributions from CUPE local 3742 and the local chapter of BCPVPA -- the Prince George Principals' and Vice-Principals' Association.
WHERE: This event will be online, hosted on Zoom and set up through the EasyReg system. After registration, participants receive links to their respective workshop sessions, plus login details if they would like to change their workshops.
WHAT: We encourage use of the hashtag #edfling during the conference to communicate professional learning and celebrate the work of educators. You can also add your district #sd57, #sd91, #sd28, or #sd29 as well as #bctf or #bced in order to invite wider dialogue.
